Ancient River Giant Arrives at sWo:

Meet Our New Fly River Turtle

Scale World Order is excited to officially welcome one of the most unique freshwater turtles on the planet to our growing family — the incredible Fly River Turtle!

Native to the rivers and wetlands of New Guinea and northern Australia, the Fly River Turtle is unlike any other turtle species in the world. With its pig-like nose, powerful flippers, and fully aquatic lifestyle, this ancient-looking reptile has earned the nickname “the turtle that swims like a sea turtle.”

Known for their peaceful nature and prehistoric appearance, Fly River Turtles are considered living relics of Earth’s ancient past. Watching them glide effortlessly through the water is truly something special, and we’re thrilled to now share that experience with our guests at Jurassic Gardens inside the Volo Museum.

This amazing species represents another step forward in our mission to educate, inspire, and connect people with some of the world’s most fascinating reptiles and wildlife. Whether you’re a lifelong reptile enthusiast or seeing one for the very first time, the Fly River Turtle is guaranteed to leave an impression.

Come visit Scale World Order inside Jurassic Gardens at the Volo Museum and meet this incredible freshwater giant for yourself!

Hi, I’m Ryan

reptile rescuer, wildlife educator, and founder of Scale World Order, LLC and I’m building something that’s never been seen before in my community: a public reptile and wildlife facility where rescued animals get a second chance, and visitors get a first-hand look at just how amazing they really are.

I’ve spent years working with incredible creatures — from powerful pythons and ancient alligator snapping turtles to gentle tortoises and brilliantly colored lizards. These animals aren’t just “cool to look at” they’re vital to our ecosystems, yet they’re often feared, misunderstood, or abandoned. I’ve seen too many reptiles in small tanks, unsafe cages, or simply dumped into the wild where they can’t survive. That ends here.

My dream is bold:

  • A rescue and rehabilitation center for reptiles and other wildlife in need of urgent care

  • Massive, naturalistic enclosures designed to meet each animal’s specific needs — from humidity-controlled snake habitats to sun-soaked tortoise yards

  • An interactive visitor experience where people can get up close, ask questions, and even meet some of our animal ambassadors

  • Educational programs for schools, families, and community groups to spark curiosity and inspire conservation

Imagine walking through a facility where you can see a 15-foot python gliding through crystal-clear water, watch a black-throat monitor bask under heat lamps, or learn how a Mata Mata turtle perfectly camouflages in its habitat. Every exhibit will be a chance to replace fear with fascination.

This campaign is the first step in making it all happen. Your support will fund enclosures, heating and lighting systems, veterinary care, permits, and the build-out of a safe, engaging space for both animals and guests.

Every dollar you give doesn’t just buy supplies it builds a future where these misunderstood creatures get the respect, care, and protection they deserve.

Join me in making this dream a reality for the animals, for the community, and for the next generation of wildlife lovers.
